Prog rock titans Dream Theater, one of the most important bands of the genre, are on a European tour as part of which they are coming to the Small Hall of the Sports Hall on Friday, May 27, 2022.

After eight years, Dream Theater returns to Zagreb as part of a large “Top Of The World” series of concerts, which accompanies the current album A “View From The Top Of The World”, and the performance in Croatia will be the only one in the region. Legends of progressive rock music bring their complete production from sound to light and video to Dom sportova, and they will be joined as a pre-producer by Canadian prog metal singer and guitarist Devin Townsend. The Zagreb concert will last for four hours!

After completing part of the UK tour, Dream Thater awaits Italy, Hungary, the Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria throughout May, and ends in Turkey on the first day of June. The reviews of the tour so far praise the precision and virtuosity of the musicians who, they say, perfectly connect the musical and visual part of the concert.

The current album “A View From The Top Of The World”, which is accompanied by a tour, is the fifteenth release of the band where he explores the boundaries, but also remains true to the sound that brought them millions of fans around the world. It was produced by guitarist and band founder John Petrucci, one of the most notable and innovative heavy metal guitarists of today. The media praises the new release, so Louder says the band delivered an album that is much bigger and better than what we could hear so far, while Metal Injection, for example, praises the melody and instrumentality. Dream Theater also recently won a Grammy for Best Metal Performance of the Year for the single “The Alien” from the new album.

According to many, Dream Theater is a pioneer of progressive metal, and one of the most important bands of the genre is one of the big three bands that are responsible for its development and popularization. True virtuosos are known for their great instrumentalizations and unforgettable live performances.

In more than 30 years of career, they have sold 15 million albums, two Grammy nominations and one won. “Images & Words” included Rolling Stone in the list of the 100 best metal albums, readers voted “Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory ”as the best prog rock album of all time, and Classic Rock magazine ranked it among the best conceptual. The band is on the Billboard Top 200 with the album “Black Clouds & Silver Linings”, and is enrolled in the Long Island Music Hall of Fame.

Canadian prog metal singer and guitarist Devin Townsend is performing as a pre-producer. For three decades he has collaborated with Steve Vai, and performs with the bands Strapping Young Lad and The Devin Townsend Band, ie Project. On solo albums he mixes hard rock and prog metal, but also ambient and new-age music, and they compare the production with that of Phil Spector and Frank Zappa. The variety rooted in heavy metal goes back to opera vocals, and various aspects of Townsend’s work can be heard on the current album “Empath”.
