Wolfheart finally came to Zagreb for the first time!! It was an extremely beautiful evening that started extremely explosively from the first song! Instantly, from the first few chords it was made clear why the band is considered as one of the biggest melodic death bands today.
The concert in Zagreb is the first date of the continuation of the big tour under which they promote last year’s album “King of the North”, which is also their 6th studio album, released for Napalm Records. Since the birth of the band in 2013, Tuomas Saukkonen (Before the Dawn, Black Sun Aeon, Dawn of Solace) stood behind the whole idea and led the band from a solo project to a metal institution and a leader of the whole new genre in music. Themes of songs revolve around: winter, nature, apocalypse, wolves, warriors, bloodshed, battle, melancholy and others.
Tuomas Saukkonen describes the music Wolfheart plays as Winter Metal and it’s a beautiful definition, as there is no other way to describe the pure beauty of untouched nature in the winter that brings only peace. Rare metal bands have the power and magic to soothe, comfort and bring peace in a way that Wolfheart can. Finland is the motherland of so many great bands, land of heavy metal and Wolfheart proves it once again. Wolfheart has the power to make you fall in love with Finland, their landscapes and wish for everlasting winter.
Magic of the Winter Metal the band plays lie in the unique combination of melodic and melancholic, romantically acoustic and brutal death metal vocals and transitions from one another that tell a story of beauty, loss and love and paint the most beautiful pictures of dreamy landscape and peace. Special magic of Northern cold melancholy is created through atmospheric metal elements that describe darkness, depression but also traces of hope, which are all perfectly rounded by masterful musical expression the band created all together.
All in all, it was a great evening and Gods of winter metal even brough Nordic cold front with them as it was beyond enjoyable to experience a bit colder day in the most perfect atmosphere only Wolfheart knows how to create!
