SWAMP TURNED INTO A HOT BURNING PORTAL TO HELL!

Snakes and vultures crawled up the walls!

METUZALEM, doom/death metal band from Zagreb opened the evening. Bend consists of members who played in numerous Croatian bands that have created unique friendship, cohesion and synergy in their well-rehearsed performance.

Metuzalem recorded the first full-length album “Infra” already in its first year of existence and have sets a clear stylistic direction of the band that represents gloomy funeral slowness contrasted with sharp death metal riffs in a combination that hasn’t put us into sleep as its dynamic and not too slow for us to be able to enjoy it. The band depicted the atmosphere of the rotten smell of a grave, cemetery and all things that are undead and refuse to die.

Metuzalem thrilled us with their performance as I got an impression of witnessing a gig from a highly professional band that has been on the scene for a very long time although it’s not quite so. They showed high amounts of maturity and professionalism and we enjoyed the gig and the atmosphere the band created very much.

UADA have finally arrived to Močvara, after five years since their last visit. Many of us had opportunities to see them live during the festivals that were held in the meantime. Interesting fact is that the band will have their third performance in Močvara. The band started out in 2014 in Portland and so far, they have released four studio albums: Devoid of Light (2016), Cult of a Dying Sun (2018), Djinn (2020). The most recent: Crepuscule Natura from last year was promoted last night. Their sound can be classified as melodic black metal but also has a pinch of NWOBHM, grunge, gothic and other. Themes the songs cover include: paganism, mysticism, misanthropy, nature, darkness etc.

The name of the band means “haunted” in Latin and the atmosphere at the gig depicted why that might be so as the mystical melodic elements took us to another new world of dark and mystical black woods where all is possible.

Snakes and Vultures in the Swamp!

This hot summer day has been heated up to the boil and I think at one point it became so hot that I nearly could have started hallucinating snakes crawling up the walls of the the Swamp, the venue where the concert was taking place!

The gig was explosive and pure excellence. It started very explosively with the magnificent “Snakes & Vultures” and the band continued mercilessly and thrilled all that came to see UADA last night.

Absolute climax of the night was “Black Autumn, White Spring” which turned the venue called Swamp into a hot burning portal to Hell! Pure perfection and excellent example of what beloved melodic black metal should sound like.

I was stunned and shocked how the concert ended very abruptly. I was sure there will be a continuation, then I thought someone fainted maybe because of the heat and was left wondering for a long time until I sadly realised that indeed it was over. It was a shock to me as it seemed that it lasted for way too short and really left us all thirsty for more and the next occasion we will see UADA live. Others were satisfied with the length of the concert, but time just rushed by too quickly for me. Can’t wait for the next gig!!
