The concert was opened by IRAE, a one-man raw black metal project from Lisbon, led by Vulturius, and has been active since 2002. Over the course of a prolific career, IRAE has released numerous demos, splits, and compilations, along with four full-length studio albums. The latest of these, Assim na Terra como no Inferno (2022), was showcased at Boogaloo.

SUMUS DIABOLUS INCARNATUS who performed next, is a relatively new black metal outfit hailing from Lens. So far, they have one album to their name—Les louanges de Baël – Livre 1 (2022). The band consists of Amaymon on bass, Paymon on drums, and Baël handling vocals. Their appearance at Boogaloo will mark their first-ever performance in Croatia.

DOODSWENS (Dutch for “death wish”) is a black metal band that emerged in 2017 in Eindhoven. The lineup features I. on vocals and drums, with Riccardo Subasi on bass. To date, they have put out four releases: the Doodswens demo (2019), the split From the Shadows of the Abyss (2020), the full-length Lichtvrees (2022), and their latest live album, Het nieuwe licht (2023).

The band had a very inspiring and mystical performance and surely gathered new fans and heated up the atmosphere to the maximum!

One of the most recognizable names in black metal, MARDUK, needs little introduction—even the crows perched on the branches know of them. Their signature sound blends relentless black metal with hints of death metal and, on occasion, a more melodic touch—though they swiftly return to their merciless onslaught (a word of caution: listening to Panzer Division Marduk on an empty stomach is not advised). Named after a Babylonian deity, the band was formed in 1990 in the Swedish city of Norrköping. Guitarist Morgan Steinmeyer Håkansson has been the driving force behind the band from the very start, fueled by a simple yet bold vision: to create the most blasphemous band in existence—something he largely achieved. Across their long and dynamic career, they have released 15 albums. Their latest, Memento Mori, dropped in September 2023 via Century Media Records and will be the focus of this tour. Alongside Morgan—also known as Evil—the band’s core lineup features vocalist Mortuus (Daniel Rostén, the mastermind behind Funeral Mist) and drummer Bloodhammer.

Returning to Zagreb after three years, MARDUK were back as part of their Memento Mori European tour, this time at Boogaloo. With an electrifying performance, they once again proved why they reign as Sweden’s ultimate black metal titans. We were sorry many of the older greatest hits were not performed but we also had a chance to hear them in the years before so it was a very nice set of new er songs proving the band still has it. Absolute highlight of the show was the performance of the magnificent „The Blond Beast“. One of the greatest moments in the concerts that happened and will happen in 2025 in Croatia!
