Concert wad opened by garage rock bands Erotic Biljan & His Heretics and Mojo Men from Mars and they created a pretty good atmosphere. Unfortunately, the venue wasn’t completely packed due to a collision with another concert at another venue. But nevertheless, it was great seeing two highly enthusiastic bands at their best.
British 80’s rock legends The Godfathers came to Zagreb’s Boogaloo as part of their 40th anniversary tour. The Godfathers’ latest album, Alpha Beta Gamma Delta, has been hailed as one of their finest works, alongside Birth, School, Work, Death and More Songs About Love And Hate. Featuring thirteen tracks, the album has been described by frontman and founder Peter Coyne as a “sonic tour de force” and marks the band’s first studio release since 2017’s critically acclaimed A Big Bad Beautiful Noise. “Alpha Beta Gamma Delta is undoubtedly one of the best albums The Godfathers have ever created—it’s electrifying, dark, and dangerously modern rock & roll!” says Coyne. Written and recorded during the Covid pandemic, the album was produced by The Godfathers’ bassist Jon Priestley, formerly of punk legends The Damned. Following the 2020 release of the single I’m Not Your Slave / Wild and Free and the Midnight Rider EP, this album introduces a fresh lineup: Coyne, Priestley, ex-Heavy Drapes members Billy Duncanson (drums) and Richie Simpson (guitar), along with guitarist Wayne Vermaak from The Great St Louis.
Last time I saw The Godfathersit was back in the 1990 so it was a special treat to see them live again! It was obvious that the band grew and aged in style and there was no room for fear will the band perform as good as they used to. Some of the highlights of the concert were performances of: „Cause I Said So“, „She Gives Me Love“, „I’m Lost and I’m Found“, „I Want Everything“, “I’m Not Your Slave” and “OCD”. Ofcourse the absolute peak was performance of the everlasting magnificent “Birth, School, Work, Death”! The band performed in special kind of unity and presented old school magnificence only the greatest of bands possess!
