The Pentagram Burns in Yumen and Conquer all!
Last night we witnessed one of the greatest tour openings in as long as we can remember as The Unholy Trinity tour consists of three extremely great bands for which we can’t distinguish which one is better from the other! Usually, tours with several bands do not carry so much power that all the bands are exactly our favorite ones and it was an extreme pleasure to be part of this extreme experience.
ROTTING CHRIST had an excellent set and some of the highlights were performances of “666” and “Kata Ton Daimona Eaytoy”. It was great hearing the set the band prepared, but it seemed like it lasted too short. That effect was emphasised by the fact that the brakes between bands were quite long. The band also presented the newer songs and performed the great “Like Father, Like Son”. I was a bit disappointed that my most favourite song “In Yumen / Xibalba” wasn’t played, but that’s the thing with fans: they can’t ever get enough, so it’s time to already think of another concert to see the band live! The concert ended marvellously with the magnificent “Grandis Spiritus Diavolos” and just as we thought things couldn’t get any better we remembered the other bands ahead of the evening.
SATYRICON were at their best and I can’t remember a better performance as the band shifted from audio-visual effects to more important matters: giving a great explosive musical attack that simply conquers as if you don’t want to talk, drink or blink during their show! Seeing Satyr and Frost at their best is the greatest treat of the night and the band still has the extreme power to make you instantly fall in love in them as I listened to some very young audience members that saw Satyricon for the first time live and it was great seeing birth of new fans of the band! It’s impossible to state the best part of the concert as all parts were great, but highlights were definitely performances of: “Black Crow on a Tombstone”, “To Your Brethren in the Dark”, “The Pentagram Burns”, “Mother North” and finally: the magnificent masterpiece: “K.I.N.G.”.
BEHEMOTH announced the delivery of the most intense and creative performance yet and kept their word. The concert started with a live debut of “The Shadow Elite” and another debut was also “The Shit ov God” a bit later on. Unfortunately the sound wasn’t as great as expected. The show was great and as expected the last show we catched at Rockstadt Extreme festival last year where the band used a lot of pyro. This time the visual effects were insane, with the lights, smoke, pyro and moving stage platforms so the show was mind-blowing! Definitely something you can’t afford to miss! The setlist was very extensive and included many of our beloved songs among which we had a chance to enjoy some of the greatest: “Ora Pro Nobis Lucifer”, “Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel”, “Bartzabel” and “Christians to the Lions”. The concert ended with an encore “O Father O Satan O Sun!” and it was pure magnificence!
Last night was the fulfillment of all our wishes and announcement of the great tour ahead as the combination of the bands is incredible and brings out all the best in today’s modern black metal with all the dark, mystical and brutal elements we need!
