The legendary English group Asian Dub Foundation is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. As part of the celebratory tour, the Asian Dub Foundation did not bypass Zagreb, where they will hold a concert on Friday, November 15, 2024, at the Boogaloo club! Favorites of the local audience, they had their last solo concert in Zagreb back in 2001, and after that they played mainly at festivals, more often on the coast than in the metropolis. Therefore, this solo performance in Zagreb, scheduled for autumn, is a real opportunity to feel their full strength in an all-night concert.
Asian Dub Foundation music is a genre unto itself. Their unique fusion of jungle rhythms, dub bass, wild guitars, drawing from their South Asian roots and militant rap. The story begins in the early nineties when the Asian Dub Foundation was created as part of a music workshop in East London, in the institution that forever remained their spiritual home, Community Music. These beginnings not only shaped their sound, but also broadened their educational aspirations, which is illustrated by the establishment of their own educational organization ADF Education, as well as their campaigns advocating for victims of judicial injustice.
In the mid-nineties, they built a strong reputation with their performances, which brought them recognition at the world level. They shared the stage with Rage Against The Machine, Beastie Boys and Primal Scream. In the studio, they collaborated with musical institutions: Radiohead, Sinead O’Connor, Iggy Pop, Adrian Sherwood and Chuck D. Furthermore. They are one of the pioneers who seriously devoted themselves to cinema-concerts, starting with their own interpretation of the soundtrack for the French classic “La Haine” from 2001.
The Asian Dub Foundation celebrates 30 years of career and activism, which have been filled with unforgettable concerts around the world, nine studio albums and numerous legendary collaborations. This year 2024, the Asian Dub Foundation will continue to write its own history on the European tour, as part of which they are coming to Croatia!
They are joined by One Dread as an opening act. Immersed in reggae, roots, dancehall roots, honed over the years and countless performances, One Dread gave birth to their debut album “Rewind, Play, Repeat” at the end of 2023, which delighted both critics and audiences. After a busy summer and numerous concerts, autumn in Zagreb will be marked by a performance with the giants Asian Dub Foundation. This musical combination guarantees an evening that will bring a lot of energy and one of the concerts that Zagreb will remember for a long time.
