MAMMOTH WVH opened the evening with an excellent set list and strength. Mammoth WVH is an American rock band founded and fronted by Wolfgang Van Halen, initially as a solo project while he was still a part of Van Halen prior to their disbandment.
Their sound has become recognizable through their smooth transitions from Hard rock to alternative rock with an output of raw rock uplifting sound. Wolfgang Van Halen’s musical talents displayed at a very young age, as even his father, Eddie Van Halen, said he foresees great things for his son as his talents are natural and he does everything with ease. Wolfgang plays rhythm and lead guitar, bass, drums and piano and does the lead vocals. Their performance was a great warm up for the evening ahead of us.
HALESTORM is a well known Grammy-winning rock band from Red Lion, Pennsylvania. Halestorm consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Lzzy Hale, her drummer brother Arejay Hale, guitarist Joe Hottinger, and bassist Josh Smith.
Hales was definitely responsible for creating a great show last night as a very skilful, fun and entertaining drum solo from Arejay Hale and vocal performances from Lzzy Hale were definite highlights of the evening! It seemed that Lzzy Hale was on fire throughout the whole evening and she sounded very powerful and enchaining!
They opened the show with their last single “The Steeple” and instantly fired up the audience. The band immediately continued with the excellent “Love Bites (So Do I)”. They’ve treated their fans with excellent performances of “Familiar Taste of Poison” and “Freak Like Me”. They concluded the concert with the magnificent “I Miss the Misery”. Their live performance was a positive fix of pure energy and positivity we all needed. My own personal opinion at that point was that it’s gonna be hard to top that and I believe I was right. My own personal taste was definitely more on the side of Halestorm as it seemed that they stole the show. Of course all the Alter Bridge hard core fans will not agree, but that’s the beauty of personal opinions, everybody has one and we can agree to disagree.
ALTER BRIDGE is led by one of the best vocalists of his generation, the great Myles Kennedy, and this winter he returns with his supergroup, which consists of three other members of the post-grunge band Creed – legendary guitarist Mark Tremonti, the band’s main author, bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips. The big “Pawns & Kings” tour includes 25 cities in 18 countries.
The venue was packed as the concert from this tour taking place in Zagreb was the only one in the region. They opened the concert with “Silver Tongue” and continued with the excellent “Addicted to Pain”. It’s been great to see so many fans actually arrive after saving the tickets from canceled shows due to the pandemic.
Performance from Alter Bridge was highly professional, energetic and uplifting as they presented their interpretation of uncompromised Rock that never leaves the audience cold. Sound and light show were excellent, but you had to be positioned at the right part of the hall to have the best sound experience. The encore included “Cry of Achilles” and beautiful “Open Your Eyes”. After the concert ended it was obvious that the fans were highly satisfied as the band managed to perform 16 songs which is a lot considering that the band performed after two opening bands.
