The globally popular Canadian synth pop duo DESIRE is coming to Croatia for the first time as part of the European tour “Games People Play”, where they will promote the album of the same name! Bring your dancing shoes and flexible hips to Močvar on December 11. The pre-sale price of tickets is 23 euros and can be bought online through Hangtime ticketing or in the Dirty Old Shop, and on the day, if there are any left, they will cost 26 euros.
Desire was formed in 2009 in Montreal, and consists of singer Megan Louise and producer/multi-instrumentalist Johnny Jewel (former member of the bands Chromatics and Glass Candy), who is otherwise known for using analog equipment. Nat Walker (also a former member of Chromatics) was a member of the band on keyboards and drums in the very beginnings. As befits the people of Montreal, their lyrics are in English and French. So far, they have released two albums: Desire (2009) and Escape (2022), while “Games People Play” should see the light of day in early September. And this album will be released on Johnny’s label “Italians Do it Better”, a phrase made famous by Madonna in the video “Papa Don’t Preach”. Their highly praised debut “Desire” included the megahit “Under Your Spell”, which today has almost 70 million views on YouTube, and also allowed them to collaborate with fashion brands such as Max Mara and Christian Dior. It appeared as a soundtrack in the American film “Drive” and the Norwegian drama “Oslo, August 31st”, and the sample was also used by Kid Cudi for the song “Teleport 2 Me, Jamie”. In any case, all lovers of synth pop and softer, yet danceable electronic music should not miss this event. See you on December 11 in Močvara!
