40 years of Melvins in Zagreb!
Tvornica kulture, Zagreb // June 14, 2023.
One of the most influential and loudest bands of the American independent scene of all time, the indestructible Melvins, are coming to Tvornica kulture on June 14, 2023 as part of a tour celebrating 40 years of work.
The new meeting between the local audience and the Melvins after their 2015 guest appearance will take place during their European tour, where they are also promoting last year’s 25th studio album “Bad Mood Rising”. After 40 years, the band is still led by the legendary figure of the underground scene, guitarist and singer Buzz Osborne and drummer Dale Crover, who have been joined by bassist Steven Shane McDonald since 2015. Although they initially started as a hardcore punk group, their sound changed and expanded over the decades as they ranged from sludge and alter metal, noise, grunge, stoner, experimental and jazz rock, all the way to avant-garde music. However, perhaps the greatest legacy is the deep influence on the creation and development of grunge, which is why giants like Nirvana and Soundgarden, as well as many other bands from Seattle, put them in their musical role models. The Melvins strongly influenced other genres, so bands such as Tool, Sleep, Sunn O))), Mastodon, Lamb Of God, Isis, as well as musicians such as Mike Patton or Slipknot’s vocalist Corey put them on the list of their influences. Taylor.
In the 90s, there was a famous saying about the Melvins that everyone who attended their concert bought a guitar and started a band a day later. However, compared to most artists from Seattle, they have always remained deeply buried in the underground, outside of any commercial currents, but armed with a wall of noise that only gets stronger with age. Such is the new release, the acclaimed “Bad Mood Rising”, on which, in the 14-minute long “Mr Dog Is Totally Right”, they hosted Dylan Carslon from the group Earth.
