After five years, the Nordic folk pagan duo Nytt Land is returning to Zagreb, to be more precise in Močvar, and the date to mark is September 25. On that occasion, he will promote his seventh album “Torem”, which was released in October last year. Fans of bands like Heilung, Wardruna, Danheim and SKÁLD should definitely not miss this concert! Early bird tickets at the price of 19 euros can be purchased until May 15. or until the EB stock runs out via Hangtime ticketing, and hard copy tickets will soon be available at the Dirty Old Shop at Tratinska 34 in Zagreb. Their presale price will be 22 euros, and on the day they will cost 25 euros.
Nytt Land was created in 2013 in the town of Kalachinsk (Omsk region), 4700+ kilometers from Zagreb, and the whole story began with a married couple, Natalija and Anatolij Pakhalenko. In addition to the dark neo-pagan ambience they create, they are also characterized by throat singing, playing traditional hand-made instruments such as kantele and talharpa, which is certainly an additional incentive why it is worth attending this unusual ceremony. The band says that they are inspired by the sounds of the Siberian landscape, and they also use recorded sounds of ravens and other sounds from the forest, so it’s no wonder that some describe their music as a “hallucinogenic walk in the tundra”. They are textually related to Norse mythology, especially to the collection of 38 poems “The Old (Poetic) Edda” in the Old Norse language (the North Germanic language spoken by the inhabitants of the Scandinavian peninsula and their overseas possessions in the Viking Age, until around 1300). Their last album “Torem” was sung in Khanty (the region of Western Siberia along the Ob River) and Old Icelandic, and the name itself means “Big Sky” and has great significance for the spirituality of the people from those regions. A very interesting experience awaits us on September 25 in Močvara, it would be a sin to miss it. Also organized by Hangtime, the same band will perform a day earlier in Belgrade’s Zappa Barca.
