Every time we bring a band that is legendary we have so much to write, say, convey to you the pleasure we have and present it to you as best as possible. Of course, bands like Possessed don’t need too much introduction, but we don’t want to miss this opportunity under any circumstances, so… get ready for a wall of text. The 1980s in San Francisco were amazing years for metal, and the San Francisco Bay Area was a place that was a huge hotbed for bands. Along with the growing number of metal bands in the area that were just starting their careers, Metallica, Slayer, Death Angel, Exodus, Testament, etc., Possessed also happened back in 1983. How important the bay around San Francisco was for death metal is also evidenced by the information that Chuch Schuldiner, in order to record the first Death album (Scream Bloody Gore), moved for a short time to that other ocean and recorded it with Chris Reifert (Autopsy). A year later, in 1984, a three-track demo called “Death Metal” was released and it was the first time that the term “Death Metal” was mentioned. Jeff Becerra, vocalist of Possessed holds the title of creator of that term. Kam Lee and Rick Rozz (Mantas/Massacre) who were together with Chuck in the band at that time said sometime later that he was crazy about that sound and said that what they play should be like that. And then, in 1985, Seven Churches saw the light of day. Seven Churches. If you haven’t listened to that album, and you like extreme music, it’s time to correct that injustice, because Seven Churches is an album that transcended the genre. The album that caused the bands to turn in more extreme directions. We are sure that during your life, following extreme music, you have encountered this legendary cover at least a dozen times. If you have been overlooked, do not mention it to anyone and correct the injustice quickly. Larry LaLonde, who played guitar on this legendary album, the album after “Beyond the Gates” and the EP “The Eyes of Horror”, stops being a member of the band and joins no less than Primus, where he is still today. Covers of Possessed were played by everyone. Cannibal Corpse covered “The Exorcist” on their 1993 EP Hammer Smashed Face. Death, Sepultura, Pestilence, Deicide, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Dimmu Borgir, Rotting Christ, Gorguts, Sinister, Vader, Sadistic Intent… all the mentioned bands at some point in their career, when asked where their inspiration came from, listed Possessed as the main source.
After all, Napalm Death was so heavily inspired by Possessed that they cited them as the reason they switched from post-Scum grindcore to a more death metal sound.

Old acquaintances from the scene who will have the honor of opening this blasphemous evening! The guys play dirty mid-tempo Black/Thrash inspired by darkness, hatred of the church, Christianity and everything that young people love. If you don’t walk like a knight, it means that you didn’t wear tight enough pants and put enough bullets, rivets and chains on yourself. They are the Abyss, and you are fallen angels! Old school or no school!
