IN ZAGREB BOOGALOO, ZAGREB PHANTASMAGORIA WILL PERFORM AS GUESTS
On Sunday 15.10.2023. British post-punk / goth rock legends The Macrh Violets will come to Croatia for the first time, and with them The Bellwether Syndicate, a band of legends of the punk and goth scene from Los Angeles, William Faith who played in Christian Death, Shadow Project Mephisto Waltz and founder is from Faith + The Muse. As an introduction to this special evening, the Zagreb darkers Phantasmagoria, who are celebrating their 35th anniversary this year, will perform, and DJ Tomi Phantasma will play music before and after the concert.
The March Violets were founded in 1981 in the British city of Leads. They come from the post punk scene and started creating their music following the example of their fellow citizens The Sisters Of Mercy who also come from Leeds. The Sisters Of Mercy, i.e. their publishing house Merciful Release, released their first EP “Religious as Hell” in 1982, followed by the single “Grooving in Green”. In 1983, The March Violets founded their publishing house Rebirth records and released the cult single “Crow Baby”, with which they became one of the main actors of the British goth scene and one of the trademarks of the then most popular goth gathering place, London’s Bat Cave. After that, they released their biggest hit until today, “Snake Dance”. In 1984, they released the album “Natural History”, and in 1985, “Electric Shades”, before they stopped working in 1987. In 2007, they got together again, and in 2013 they released the album “Made Glorious” and in 2015 “Morality”.
The Bellwether Syndicate was founded in 2011 by William Faith with his partner, vocalist “Scary Lady Sarah” Rose Faith, and on this tour they are promoting their new album “Vestige & Vigil”, which they declared one of the most interesting albums on the new dark scene due to the combination fierce old school post punk sound with a modern dark expression.
Zagreb’s Phantasmagoria celebrates 35 years of existence this year, so the repertoire will be mostly older songs, including some very rarely performed songs, and it will be a great introduction to this post punk / goth rock spectacle.
Doors open at 7:00 p.m., Phantasmagoria will take the stage at 8:00 p.m., The Beelwether Syndicate at 9:00 p.m., and The March Violets at 10:00 p.m. The price of tickets is €20 early bird (the first 100 tickets), €25 regular tickets and €28 on the day of the concert.
